Pennington became CSUSM's first CCAA Men's Golf Champion and became the program's first CCAA Golfer of the Year. He shot a 67 in the second round to shoot up to the top of the leaderboard and held on with an even-par 72 in the final round to clinch the championship. Pennington led the Cougars to a third-place finish at the CCAA Championships – their highest finish since becoming postseason eligible in 2018.
