Vavra was named the CCAA Runner of the Week (Sept. 20-28) after winning the Cougar Challenge with a time of 24:32.4 in a field of 123 runners. He finished in the top 10 in all three races CSUSM competed in for the month of September. At the Biola Invitational, Vavra recorded the fastest time among collegiate runners at 24:47.9 to lead CSUSM to a second-place finish. Among 156 runners at Cal State Fullerton's Mark Covert Classic, he placed eighth with a time of 25:08.5.
