In the first race of the season, Gonzalez crossed the line in 12th place at the CCAA Preview (Kim Duyst XC Invite) and helped guide CSUSM to a second place finish. He ran the second-fastest time on the team at 25:44.5 and placed 18th at the Master's Invitational.
