Heather Thompson of the women's basketball team has been named the CSUSM Female Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of December. In seven games, the senior forward averaged 13.6 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. She accumulated 12 blocked shots and dished out eight assists.
She registered three double-doubles, including a 21-point, 11-rebound performance in a 68-44 victory over Pacific Union in the Simpson Christmas Classic on Dec. 29.
The Escondido native is nationally-ranked in the NAIA top 25 in six statistical categories: defensive rebounding (5th, 7.2), blocks (9th, 26), total rebounds (9th, 129), blocks per game (1th, 1.7), total rebounds (20th, 8.6), and field goal percentage (20th, 50.9%).
