Cal State San Marcos Athletics

Ayded Reyes of the No. 4 Cal State San Marcos women's cross country team has been named the CSUSM Female Student Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 9-15, 2013. Reyes, a senior from San Diego, claimed her first collegiate race title and helped CSUSM to a win in the open race of the 20-team UC Riverside Invitational at the Highlander Ag/Ops course.

She ran the course in 17:55.5 to beat out former Colorado State runner Jennifer Tave by a second. The Cougars edged UC San Diego, 48-41, for the team title.

In addition, Reyes was named Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Female Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 9-15, it was announced Monday by the conference.

The Cougars have now won both of their races in 2013, and have been victors in six of their last nine races dating back to 2012. It is also the third straight season the Cougars have won the UC Riverside Invitational.
