Austin Coleman was inducted as the eighth member of the Cal State San Marcos Athletics Hall of Fame during the 6th Annual Student-Athlete Awards and Hall of Fame Celebration on April 16, 2015.

“This is well deserved, an accumulation of what he has done in his career,” said CSUSM baseball head coach Dennis Pugh. “He stuck it out for four years, coming back after blowing out his ACL his junior year and never missed a practice.

“He was an All-American in more than just statistics.”

Coleman is CSUSM’s hit king with 226 hits during his outstanding career, including 56 doubles and 30 home runs - also both ranking No. 1 in the program’s history. He also tops the CSUSM record books with 171 RBIs, 65 multi-hit games, 46 multi-RBI games, 180 games and 176 starts.  Coleman was CSUSM’s primary third baseman with a short stint at first base during his redshirt junior season.

Coleman’s single-season numbers were just as remarkable with a program-leading 53 RBIs and 21 doubles in 2012. His team-high .351 batting average and 65 hits led him to being named Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Player of the Year.

The sparkling offensive resume helped the El Cajon native become CSUSM baseball’s first NAIA All-American in 2012.

Coleman’s playing career at CSUSM spanned five years due to the afformentioned torn ACL in 2010. He graduated with a 3.15 cumulative grade point average and a degree in Criminology and Justice Studies in 2012.

Coleman has been a member of the San Diego Police Department since February 2014.
