SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Olivia Lucatuorto of the No. 13 Cal State San Marcos softball team was named to the Capital One Academic All-District® 4 First Team, it was announced Wednesday. Honorees are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

To be eligible for the Academic All-District® consideration, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and must have at least reached sophomore athletic and academic stats at their current institution. Student-athletes are nominated by their sports information director; awardees for the Academic All-District® are decided upon by a vote of sport information directors in their region.

Lucatuorto, a senior second baseman from Cameron Park, holds a 3.51 GPA in Criminal Justice at CSUSM.

She has started all 46 of CSUSM's contests this season; in fact, she's been a starter in 210-of-211 CSUSM games over the last four seasons. Lucatuorto is second on the squad with 14 doubles while hitting .329. She's knocked in 38 runs and has scored a team-high 47 times. Her on-base percentage is .437 and she's fielding her position on the right side at a .948 clip.

Because Lucatuorto was a First-team Academic All-District® selection, she will advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month and in early June.

Lucatuorto and the Cougars found out that they will make their sixth consecutive appearance in the NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round earlier Wednesday afternoon. CSUSM received the No. 2 At-large berth and will find out its Opening Round site and opponent at 5 p.m.
