POOLER, Ga. – The No. 11 Cal State San Marcos women's golf team sits in 11
th place in a lightning-suspended first round of the NAIA Women's Golf National Championship on Monday at Savannah Quarters Country Club. 10 of the afternoon pairings were left on the course.
The first round will resume at 7:15 a.m. ET (4:15 a.m. PT) tomorrow, with second-round pairings remaining unchanged.
CSUSM posted 312 (+24) on the par-72, 6,004-yard track in the morning session and sits 12 strokes back of first-round leader Bellevue (+12, 300). British Columbia (+13, 301) and William Woods (305, +17) are close behind.
Christina Trujillo used two birdies to go out in 36 before making eight pars in a row after a bogey on No. 10. Her 73 (+1) has her in a tie for fourth.
After a 39 on the front side,
Vanessa Chap had two birdies on the back on her way to a 37 and a 76 (+4) in the opening round. She is in a tie for 15
th.
Victoria Smith carded a 78 (+6) while
Gabby Bautista rounded out the scoring with an 85 (+13).
Taylor Coover's 86 (+14) was thrown out of the team score.
The Cougars, who are paired with host SCAD Savannah and Milligan, will start their second round off No. 10 at 10:50 a.m. PT (1:50 p.m. ET).
