KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Cal State San Marcos golf teams both moved up in their respective NAIA Top 25 Polls, the national office announced Friday.
The Cougar men moved up a slot to No. 6 while the Cougar women jumped two spots to No. 10.
The CSUSM men's team is coming off a runner-up finish at the Primm Battle, in which the squad beat three teams that were ranked in front of it. Two of those teams, No. 4 British Columbia and No. 5 Wayland Baptist, remain ahead of the Cougars, but CSUSM switched spots with now-No. 7 Johnson & Wales (Fla.).
The Cougar men received 422 total points. Oklahoma City took over the top spot with 489 points. Former No. 1 William Woods is now No. 2, and previous No. 4 Coastal Georgia moved up to No. 3.
The CSUSM women advanced from No. 12, where they had been for the preseason and first regular-season poll. The Cougars recently took fourth at the Primm Battle.
CSUSM received 351 points and moved ahead of three teams that were previously ranked ahead - Bellevue, Wayland Baptist and Dalton State. Northwood, winner of the Primm Battle, moved to No. 1 from No. 3.
