RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Senior
Kate Bouvatte led the Cal State San Marcos women's cross country team to its fourth consecutive UC Riverside Invitational victory on Saturday.
The Cougars collected 27 points on the 5K course, 25 less than second place Cal Poly Pomona and 77 less than third place UC San Diego, both future opponents in CSUSM's new CCAA conference.
Bouvatte took top honors in the collegiate race with a time of 17:55.8, finishing behind only Bethany Blomquist who ran unattached. Three more Cougars joined Bouvatte in the top 10 beginning with sophomore
Raelyn Werley in fourth place at 18:06.2. Freshman
Natalie Rodriguez placed eighth and sophomore
Salena Gallardo followed in ninth place with times of 18:27.2 and 18:27.9, respectively.
The Cougars are back in action next Saturday, Sept. 20 in The Master's Invite in Santa Clarita.
