Daktronics NAIA Men's Cross Country Scholar-AthletesÂ
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Cal State San Marcos cross country runner
Steven Ing was named a Daktronics NAIA Scholar Athlete Monday for his academic achievements throughout his time at CSUSM.

His is one of 210 NAIA men's cross country student-athletes across the nation to receive the award. In order to be nominated, a student must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior status academically.

The junior from South Africa possesses a 3.52 GPA as a Kinesiology major with the intention of becoming a sports physiotherapist or sports scientist.

After suffering an early season injury, Ing has only been able to train in the final seven weeks. He has improved his time in each of the final four races, capping the season off with a 17th place finish at the NAIA National Championship and subsequently earning All-America honors.Â
