SAN MARCOS, Calif.— Cal State San Marcos women's volleyball coach
Andrea Leonard was named the 2012 A.I.I. Volleyball Coach of the Year in a
press release issued by the A.I.I. Monday.
Leonard has taken a startup program that played their first competition just 16 months ago and has led the Cougars to two straight NAIA National Championship appearances, as well as two consecutive A.I.I. Conference Championships.
In 2012, Leonard and the Cougars swept all four opponents in the A.I.I. Championships, failing to concede a single set. The team then went on to knock off No.22 Vanguard in the opening round of the NAIA tournament and No. 6 The Master's in pool play before being knocked out of the tournament as a result of a tiebreaker.
In all, the Cougars finished the season 30-15, and knocked of five teams ranked in the NAIA Top-25.
