CSUSM’s Season Comes to an End Via Golden Goal

Box Score
PORTLAND, Ore. – The Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team fell victim to a golden goal in the 102nd minute as eighth-seeded Concordia (Ore.) ended the Cougars' season, 1-0, in the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round on Saturday night at Tuominen Yard.

Ashley Ames scored from 12 yards in the second overtime, pounding home the goal after the ball bounced around in the crowded area.

Despite being outshot 18-2 on the night and the Cavaliers winning five corners to none for the Cougars, CSUSM was able to push the game to the second extra period against the nation's fifth-ranked team.

Amanda Sears made seven saves and Kaleigh Dodson registered a shot on target in the loss.

CSUSM, which was granted an at-large bid to the postseason tournament, ends its season at 11-6-3 overall.

Concordia (16-2-2) advances to the 16-team NAIA National Championships in Orange Beach, Ala., Nov. 26-Dec. 1.
